I think this might be my first Finch knife. I got it at the height of my gunstock pattern interest. I wanted to see how the unique handle shape fit in my hands. The answer is... mostly. I think due to the flipper, I either need to index the flipper or squeeze my fingers in the main part of the handle. I have observed that slipjoint gunstock patterns, since they don't have the flipper come down as a guard, that my fingers aren't forced into the 50-50 choice there.
But as a fun and slicy EDC, this Hatfield excels. 154CM is a great versatile steel and the grind is thin with a nice fine edge. The action is snappy and the wood is beautiful. If you can find this old-school Finch, get it! It's a great EDC!
Arrived in pristine condition smooth action ,shake shutty and the wood grain is just beautiful along with the fit and finish. A wonderful addition to my FINCH collection.
My first Finch. I collect gunstock slipjoints so I had to get this. This is exactly the same frame as a Fox Recoil which is great size for a secondary but this knife could have benefited from being a 1/4-3/8" longer which would make it a better primary knife. The detent on mine is bit weak which makes it easy to fail and doesn't exactly rocket open. I really like the covers, the clip and the long pull is a nice touch.
