I recall the story for this knife goes that, when approached about a dealer-exclusive, all of the initial cover options that were suggested were already normal-run materials, thus the purple G10 being a kind of consolation prize. Personally, I love purple and want more knives in it. But that also speaks to the strength of the lineup and JWK's catalog planning. They are certainly listening and the release of this knife in all of its variants is a testament to that. With this knife, the beauty is in the simplicity and the story it tells of its heritage. My sample has a slightly lighter spring, which could be a QC variation. Personally, it works for me. Even more exciting was having Austin in the chat on the KnivesFAST channel live as the drop happened. Getting live updates was a treat.
While lovely to look at and great to use once open, the act of opening is so difficult and poorly designed that I hesitate to recommend this knife. The nail nick is too small for the strength of the pull and with limited viable blade it’s difficult to grab with your fingers.
I’d recommend any of Austin’s own designs over this one! Once you have used both back to back you would most certainly agree.
This is such an awesome knife. The Jack Wolf budget line of slip joints is hard to beat. As soon as they dropped I jumped on to get myself this purple Equal Ends Exclusive because I know how quickly Austin's Exclusives usually disappear and didn't want to miss out!! Luckily enough I got it ordered quick before they sold out! LOL Love this knife and also picked up another sheath from TPK - I've honestly lost count of how many knife sheaths and knives we've bought from Traditional Pocket Knives - but don't see us stopping. Customer service is super awesome and they're wonderful people to deal with. Thanks guys!!
