Cool GEC variant with no walk and talk at all

I really like the green jigged bone and the hawkbill pruner small blade that’s ideal for opening boxes and packages, and it also has a small useful spey blade. This model is also very traditional in that there’s no half stop, which is fine. The only negative is a very heavy pull for both blades, (it has a single back spring) and an extremely tight opening and closing action, so there is literally no walk and talk at all. I’ve never run into this before. The blades close on their own maybe the last 1/4”, with no authority or snap. You almost have to push the spey blade into a closed position. I’ve tried working the blades open and closed hundreds of times and a variety of knife lubes, including graphite, Teflon lube, and blue lubr, but no improvement.

For the price and being a GEC it’s disappointing as I have $5 Rough Ryder trappers with a smoother action and far better walk and talk. So it’s a pretty knife, and well built, and I can use the blades, so it gets 4 stars, but I don’t think it should have left the GEC factory with the blades working this way.

Awesome Knife

This my first Northfield old school style slip joint and I must say it’s pretty amazing and this definitely won’t be my last
