HUGE in size AND quality!

Sometimes, you just have an itch to carry a knife that is stupid big. In my slipjoint world, this is that knife. I don't have a slip big enough to fit it [I should have asked if TPK sells one] but that's not stopping me! The green micarta is rustic and beautifully finished. Using some oil/wax to shine it up made it look both rugged and handsome. The blade's proportions are such that even though it's not narrow/short in absolute terms, it comes across as not as broad as it is. It feels great in hand with the slightly raised portion in the middle helping to lock in the longer handle. This micarta version in particular also helps to provide a lot of texture for grip. The walk and talk is fantastically tuned, being neither too tough to open but also having a good amount of tension for its size. The blade is beautifully ground and finished while giving a tough ready-to-work vibe. Austin also got it in a fantastic steel for getting thin, tough knives that can take a beating.

The question isn't IF you need a big old slipjoint, the question is "which one?" This is a fantastic option.

Appalachian Ridgerunner: Green Micarta - Clip Point S90V

I am absolutely loving this knife. If you’re looking for a large folder that balances traditional soul with modern performance, the Appalachian Ridgerunner hits the nail on the head.

The first thing you notice is the quality of the build. It has fantastic "walk and talk"—the action is crisp, snappy, and feels incredibly secure for a slip joint. For a knife of this size, that mechanical feedback is exactly what you want to feel.

The Standouts:
Steel: Having S90V on a traditional-style folder is a game-changer. The edge retention is top-tier, and it makes this more than just a "gentleman's carry"—it’s a workhorse.

Handle: The Green Micarta feels great in the hand and provides a solid grip without being overly aggressive.

Value: Honestly, for the price, you won't find a better slip joint. The materials and fit and finish punch way above their weight class.

Shipping & Service:
A huge shoutout to TPK (Traditional Pocket Knives). They shipped this out fast, and it actually arrived two days ahead of schedule. You can't ask for better service than that.

Bottom Line: Whether you’re a long-time slip joint collector or just looking for a large, reliable folder with premium steel, the Appalachian Ridgerunner is a must-have. Highly recommended!

Big and beautiful

This is a large knife with fantastic fit and finish. This knife checks all the boxes like many high quality knives and they are very reasonably priced. It is an all around great knife that will fit most peoples needs and looks great doing it.

A lot of blade. Love it.

Very happy with this purchase. Really glad to have this be my first knife in s90v. The knife is big, but because it's relatively slim, it's not so in-your-face big. Excellent grinds, sharp edge, top quality micarta.
