About Austin and Clarence
I am Austin, my grandfather, Clarence Risner and I shared the same passion. The passion of buying, selling and trading knives. Ever since I was a little boy, Grandpa always had me around knives.
My memories as a child with Grandpa are memories that will be with me the rest of my life. As I grew into a young man, he always encouraged and guided me in learning the trade of the cutlery business. He taught me more than I would have ever imagined learning.
My grandfather was a life-long collector of cutlery and pocket knives in general. He is the former President of the National Knife Collectors Association.
After serving in the United States Navy on the USS Lake Champlain CV-39, Clarence dedicated his life to education, working in the Sugarcreek School System for 30 years as a Chemistry and Biology teacher. He also served as Principal for 4 years but missed the classroom so he returned to teaching chemistry. He loved being a teacher and loved his students and co-workers dearly. Clarence also loved golfing, talking knives, fishing in Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons, roaming the hills of Kentucky, and drinking a good cup of coffee. Clarence was very involved in the community. He was on the Bellbrook-Sugarcreek School Board for 20 years, was a Past Master Mason for Lodge #163 in Waynesville, served on the Greene County Career Center Board, was a Past President for the National Knife Collectors Association, owner of C. Risner Cutlery (retail knife sales), and a member of the Shriners. He inspired a lot of people and will truly be missed.
